Most Bill Payer Program clients are older adults (age 60+) but younger people with disabilities are also served.

Eligibility criteria are:

• Annual income of $40,000 or less, $45,700 or less for a couple
• Liquid assets of $40,000 or less (assets that can be liquidated within 90 days)
• Capable of making financial decisions
• Able to sign checks
• Willing to designate a low-balance checking account (< $3,500) for bill paying
• Receives ongoing social services from a community agency
• Lives in a geographic area where a volunteer is available

Every effort is made to assist clients who do not meet Bill Payer Program eligibility requirements by providing them with short-term services to link them to appropriate resources.  Bill Payer Program staff members facilitate referrals to  community social service agencies, credit counseling organizations, private Daily Money Managers, etc.
