New Directors' Training Institute

The New Directors' Training Institute (NDTI) is a four-session training course designed for New Directors with less than two years as a senior center director, as well as seasoned professionals interested in updating their knowledge base and exchanging ideas. It provides a road-map to navigate the challenges and opportunities one faces as a professional in aging services in NYC. NDTI strives to create a professional core of directors who will become the future leaders in the field of aging.

WHAT 2009 NEW DIRECTORS ARE SAYING

  • “The experience of the New Directors Training Institute was a blend of the latest information, sharing the resources that are available and a practical to see how other senior centers operate. There were also lively discussions among the participants that made me see different ways of looking at situations. I wish the program was longer” – J. Nagel of SAGE Queens.
  • "The New Directors' Training Institute was wonderful and informative. As a former caseworker, I was able to ask questions and ensure that I am following proper protocol. Though I have read the manual, not everyone is on the same page with senior centers. The training provided clarity. It was great to talk about regulation and learn from other directors' ways of running their center" - I. de la Nuez of Grand Street Settlement
  • "I listened...I have a new advisory board. I thought I would need extensive help but I didn't. I just went to the bylaws like you advised during the Training. Now I have new, vigorous seniors" - C. Weeks of Dyckman Senior Center
