Volunteer Opportunities

At CSCS, we offer a myriad of rich, meaningful volunteer opportunities to help seniors access much needed services. Volunteers lend a helping hand at SNAP outreach events borough-wide or in the office, make SNAP outreach phone calls to seniors to ensure they can buy food, disseminate CSCS program information, assist older adults and people with disabilities one-to-one, helping with budgeting and paying their monthly bills on time, and more. SNAP Outreach Program

The SNAP Outreach Program is a partnership between the Council of Senior Centers and Services of NYC, Inc. (CSCS), AARP, and NYC Department for the Aging (DFTA). Our program is striving to end elder hunger by increasing awareness and participation of SNAP and other existing food and benefits programs. The Outreach Program is an innovative and unique model that uses a team of SNAP specialists, recruited ReServists, (highly trained retired professionals) to educate, screen, and assist older adults with their SNAP applications in all five boroughs of NYC.
